There are over 30 miles of beach in Provincetown, all part of the Cape Cod National Seashore. Bask in the scenic beauty of sand and sky!
Provincetown Harbor is the closest beach to the guesthouse; its at the end of the street! Not as "pretty" as the other beaches in town, but great if you're looking for a short walk. Also, the water is much warmer than the ocean beaches. Just make sure you visit at mid to high tide!
The most popular beach has placid waters ideal for a relaxing swimming experience and is always warmer than at Race Point. Traditionally the right-hand side of the beach is more family oriented, while the left is the preferred gay & lesbian side. If you want to avoid the crowds walk north towards Hatches Harbor. You may even see whales breaching or seals basking in the sun. Spectacular sunsets as the sun seems to set into the ocean.
Named for the fierce rip tides that come around the point of the Cape, this beach is the wilder ocean sister of Herring Cove. Primarily straight, it is one of the most spectacular beaches in the States. Since it's on the Atlantic side, the water is colder with more surf. The undertow can be a bit strong but good swimmers should have no problems. Sun worshipers often prefer Race Point since it faces north and gets sun all day long.
Located at the very tip of the Cape, the grounds are open to the public but the lighthouse is not. Long Point is accessible via a boat shuttle. The lighthouse can also be reached after a long strenuous hike across a breakwater to Wood End, then across sand to Long Point. This is a favorite hike amongst the locals but should only be attempted at low tide.
