A gay French artist and writer born in the late 1800's, Cocteau dabbled in a variety of artistic endeavors including poetry, fiction, film, ballet, painting, and opera. He traveled in circles that included such luminaries as Pablo Picasso and was branded "decadent" by the French government due to his avant-garde lifestyle and creations. Some of Cocteau's most famous works include the book Les Enfants Terribles, the play "The Infernal Machine" and the film "Blood of a Poet".

Jean Cocteau

The Jean Cocteau room is one of our oversized deluxe rooms located on the first floor of our Carriage House. There is ample space for relaxation, whether it is dozing in the comfort of the queen-size bed as the fireplace flickers in the background, or reading the latest novel and sipping a glass of wine while in one of the room's two armchairs, or drifting into unconsciousness as the jets from the Jacuzzi bathtub wash away the stress of the day. Enjoy the summer sun outside on the room's private deck. For your added comfort and convenience, we also provide bathrobes, beach towels, down comforter, refrigerator, central air and heat, TV/VCR, CD stereo, hairdryer, and telephone with voicemail and dataport.
