Emily Dickinson was a local poet who was born and died in the Western Massachusetts town of Amherst during the 1800's. She was an extremely private person, preferring to spend most of her time in her room writing, having little contact with the outside world. As such, only 7 of her 1800 poems were published during her lifetime, the rest brought to light after her death by her sister.

Emily Dickinson

The Emily Dickinson room is the smallest of our queen-bedded rooms, located on the second floor of the main house. The room does not face out on any streets and is positioned in the center of the house. Decorated in a mix of rich wallpaper and ivory tones it features windows on two sides, bringing in a lot of natural light, and giving a perfect view of the Pilgrim Monument which can be dramatic at sunset. In addition, the room offers a private bath. For your added comfort and convenience, we also provide bathrobes, beach towels, down comforter, air conditioning in the summer, TV/VCR, CD alarm radio, hairdryer, and telephone with voicemail and dataport.
