The Thoreau Cottage

is the largest and most luxurious room in our guesthouse. Separate from the rest of the buildings and located adjacent to the Namasté Spa, the cottage features a large bathroom with a double jacuzzi and a comfortable sitting area in front of a fireplace that warms the room on those cool, Cape Cod nights. The lovely bay window looks out onto our Asian Garden and the sliding-glass door leads to a private patio with mini-garden and fountain.

Writer's Profile

One of the most famous poets and writers in American history, Henry David Thoreau was a native of Massachusetts and spent most of his life here. His best known work is "Walden", an autobiographical story of life in the woods on Walden Pond, where Thoreau made his home. Another of Thoreau's works, "Civil Disobedience", was an influence for both Mahatma Gandhi, in his passive resistance campaigns, and Martin Luther King, Jr. in his quest for civil rights.
